Iranian film ‘Drowning in Holy Water’ has won several nominations at the Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA).

‘Drowning in Holy Water’ is nominated for the Best Film at the Malaysia Golden Global Awards.

Neda Jebraeili and Matin Heydarnia were nominated for the Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor, respectively, for their roles in the film. 

‘Drowning in Holy Water’, written and directed by Navid Mahmoudi, is about a group of Afghans living in Tehran who are trying to reach Europe.

The movie’s cast members include Ali Shademan, Neda Jebraeili, Matin Heydarnia, and Sadaf Asgari.

The Malaysia Golden Global Awards is “an awards ceremony that exists to acknowledge and honor the efforts and sacrifices made by filmmakers and actors in improving their craft, in delivering stunning performances, and in providing superb films. It also exists to appreciate and thank those who has contributed to the film world”, according to asianfilmfestivals.com.

The Malaysia Golden Global Awards will take place on July 16.
